Description: This article presents a critical review of the experience gained from planning projects in the Athens Urban seafront area, particularly the Rehabilitation of the Drapetsona-Keratsini Port-Industrial Zone both independently and within various European programs. Structural weaknesses in the Greek planning system make it difficult to apply an integrated coastal zone management policy and new approaches suggested by European policies show both strengths and weaknesses
