Data Architects Ltd

designs that stand the test of time

History

Although Data Architects is a new company, formed in 2007, its consultants have provided a similar service for many years through the Data Management Service.  DMS has been established for over 30 years as a 'third strand' unit of Newcastle University providing chargeable services within the University but primarily to external clients.

DMS is winding down its operations with a view to closing in 2012 and is no longer taking on new clients. Data Architects is offering existing DMS clients a continued service on similar terms beyond that date. .

Newcastle University

In 2009 Data Architects won the tender for provision of Data Management Services to Newcastle University and a Framework Agreement is now in place. This allows staff within the University to buy in services without going through a further procurement process and in the knowledge that Data Architects is a trusted supplier. All work is reviewed by ISS to ensure correct data governance and that any impact / dependencies on other services is properly considered.

Other major clients

Data Architects also has an ongoing contract for database and other IT support with the North East Centre for Lifelong Learning (part of Sunderland University). For more information about their unique 'explore' scheme see http://explore.sunderland.ac.uk

In 2008 we won a tender from DEFRA in association with the Institute of Zoology (part of the Zoological Society of London) providing a database for management of UK wide Cetacean stranding data. For more information see www.ukstrandings.org

Location

We are physically based in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, but this does not prevent us working with clients elsewhere.
